Before your Manu National Park 5 Days 4 Nights adventure, you will have a comprehensive briefing with your guide one or two days in advance. This meeting at your hotel allows you to go over the itinerary, ask any questions, and finalize preparations for your trip.
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in our company van between 05:30-06:00 am. We’ll then embark on a journey along winding Andean roads to Manu National Park, We will cross beautiful inter-Andean valleys and picturesque villages until arriving at the pre-Inca tombs of Ninamarca. The next stop will occur in the village of Paucartambo which features a beautiful colonial bridge.
From Paucartambo the altitude will keep on increasing and the setting gradually gets enveloped by a cloudy mist. The road leads you to Acjanaco pass consisting of the main gateway to Manu National Park. Once across Acjanaco Pass (3550 m / 11.647 ft).
From here we travel down through pristine cloud forest which feeds the local flora unique to this clime. We will continue our drive down the hill through the pristine cloud forest passing different picturesque waterfalls and lush scrubland. We will be stopping in the cloud forest to spot the Peruvian National Bird, Cock of the Rock. Our local tour guide expert will be explaining more about the distinct bird in detail.
We’ll arrive at our lodge, where you can unwind and rejuvenate after an exhilarating day of exploration.
Starting the day off we’ll take a guided tour around the lodge, with an emphasis on local medicinal plants, peruvian Amazon fruit trees and a coca plantation. Later we’ll visit to the animal rescue center (donation only) for an hour. Once in the Rescue Center we can enjoy the free running, jumping spider monkey, titi monkey, and capuchins and pet the tapir. Volunteers will guide you around the wildlife and explain how they ended up here.
After we continue to the small town of Atalaya, 600 m (1,968 ft), we will board the motorized boat and meet with the local crew. From Atalaya we leave by motorized boat to our lodge. A long the boat trip we will see many different kind of animals, birds, plants and flowers.
In the afternoon we will visit Machuwasi Lake, on the way there are great birding and wildlife spotting opportunities and in the oasis of the lake live caiman, the prehistoric bird hoatzin (Opisthocomus hoazin), capybara and other Amazonian aquatic life. Have your cameras ready, as the trip on simple balsam pole rafts as the placid water is mirror like and we will encounter many birds, insect and some monkeys in this secluded lake.

We will leave early to visit the parrot clay lick, we’ll board our river boat to visit the parrot clay lick nearby. Weather conditions permitting, we’ll have an unforgettable look at parakeets, parrots, and (with luck) macaw pairs dining on the mineral rich clay they use to help supplement their diet and improve their digestion.
After, we’ll take a jungle trip to see the enormous ancient trees that tower just five kilometers from the reserve. While walking among exotic rainforest trees, we will see Aleton tree, Ceiba, and the beautiful Ficus.
On the forest floor, lizards, frogs, lots of species of ants from the smallest to the largest, and many other species and rare species. At the treetops, you will be surprised by a spectacular scenery where wildlife develops its life which is very good for bird watching.
Enjoy and learn the life of insects and about the interpretation of the primary and secondary components of the rainforest, as well as the human impact and the importance of the rainforest for our planet
Today we will take our motorized boat and we head towards to pool of natural hot springs two hours downstream, this journey gives us the chance to see the largest rodent in the world that inhabits the Peruvian jungle called Capybara like a guinea pig is also good route to see river birds as: cormorants, herons, kingfishers, vultures and more.
When we get to hot spring we have the option to walk in the jungle and to find the dwarf monkey called Saddle-Backed Tamarin; also we will visit a beautiful natural pool from waterfalls where you can take a dip before to return to hot spring pool.
After this experience we return to our lodge to enjoy our dinner. Later we will have our last one-hour night walk to observe the wildlife at night and feel the experience.
Today we will leave after breakfast towards the city of Cusco; we will sail against the current of the river to Atalaya and from there will take the private van through the mysterious cloud forest where we do fast stops if we will see some animals or colorful birds. Arrival to Cusco will be early evening.
