You will have thorough briefing with your guide 1 or 2 days before your Tambopata Tours 5 Days 4 nights. Your guide will meet you at your hotel and you can take this opportunity to ask questions and make any final preparations.
Your journey into the heart of the Amazon begins upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to the Tambopata National Reserve. Our team will greet you at the airport or bus station and take you to our office for check-in and secure luggage storage.
From here, we board a motorized canoe for a 40-minute ride along the Madre de Dios River, traveling deep into the jungle to reach our eco-lodge, nestled within pristine rainforest.
After a hearty Amazonian lunch, we set off for Monkey Island, a lush sanctuary home to playful capuchins, tamarins, and squirrel monkeys. Watch them swing effortlessly through the treetops, and if you’re lucky, they might approach to take food straight from your hand!
As night falls, we embark on a thrilling caiman spotting expedition, gliding silently along the riverbanks in search of these elusive nocturnal reptiles.
Start your day with an adrenaline-fueled treetop adventure, experiencing the Amazon from an entirely new perspective.
Begin by ascending to a canopy platform, then soar across the jungle on a 200-meter zip line, taking in breathtaking aerial views of the rainforest. Your challenge continues with a suspended log walkway at 27 meters above the forest floor, leading to a second 160-meter zip-line descent back to the ground.
After a rejuvenating lunch at the lodge, we take to the Madre de Dios River for an exciting kayaking experience. With high-quality life jackets and a safety boat accompanying us, we paddle through calm waters, immersing ourselves in the sights and sounds of the jungle.
As night falls, you have the option for a second caiman-spotting expedition, adding another layer of adventure to your day.
Fuel up with a hearty breakfast before we embark on a scenic boat ride to the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve. From here, we trek 1.5 hours through dense jungle, navigating a path lined with towering trees and rich biodiversity.
Reaching Sandoval Lake, we step into a canoe and glide across its mirror-like waters. This stunning lake is home to giant river otters, exotic birds, turtles, caimans, and vibrant butterflies. As we explore, keep your eyes peeled for howler monkeys and colorful macaws perched in the trees.
After an unforgettable day in this natural paradise, we return to the lodge for a well-deserved dinner and relaxation.
This morning, we travel downstream on the Madre de Dios River to visit the Ese Eja Indigenous Community. This experience is part of the “Rescuing Cultural Values” project, where we gain a deep insight into their language, traditions, ancestral customs, and warrior heritage.
The Ese Eja people warmly welcome us, sharing their rich history, traditional clothing, and ancient survival techniques—a rare and authentic cultural exchange.
In the afternoon, we try our hand at rustic fishing using traditional Amazonian techniques. With some luck, we might catch pictus catfish, armored catfish, or even red-eye piranhas.
As the sun sets, we return to the lodge for a final dinner under the jungle stars.
Rise early for one of the Amazon’s most breathtaking natural spectacles—the Parrot & Parakeet Clay Lick.
At dawn, hundreds of vibrant parrots, macaws, and parakeets gather at the mineral-rich clay walls along the riverbanks, feeding on the clay to neutralize toxins in their diet. The explosion of color and sound makes for an unforgettable wildlife encounter.
After returning to the lodge for breakfast, we board our boat back to Puerto Maldonado, marking the end of an extraordinary 5-day adventure in the Amazon.
We recommend packing light for your Tambopata 5 Days 4 Nights. Opt for layers instead of bulky jackets and prioritize quick-dry clothing suitable for the humid jungle climate. Be selective with your essentials to ensure a comfortable and hassle-free adventure.
